An outdoor Christmas movie night is one of the easiest and most memorable holiday events. Families, HOAs and churches across DFW host them every December. Here is how to set one up.
Picture and Sound
A bright 4K projector and a large projection screen give a theater-quality picture once the sun goes down. Pair them with PA speakers so the audio reaches the back row. For larger neighborhood events, an LED screen wall works even before dark.
Seating Options
- Blankets and pillows up front for kids
- Folding chairs in rows for adults
- A few tables at the back for snacks
Snack Bar
Popcorn, hot chocolate and candy canes on a draped table make it feel like a real theater.
Best Christmas Movies for a Crowd
Choose family-friendly classics that all ages enjoy, and confirm you have the right public performance license if the event is open to the public.
Weather and Timing
Sunset is around 5:20 pm in December, so you can start early. Have a canopy tent on standby in case of rain.
