After the excitement of New Year's Eve, a laid-back New Year's Day brunch is the perfect way to start the year. It is also easier to host because guests expect something casual and cozy.
Bright and Airy Table Setup
White tablecloths on round tables feel fresh and clean. Add small vases of flowers, citrus fruit and gold confetti for a "new beginnings" look.
Brunch Buffet Stations
- Waffle or pancake bar
- Mimosa and juice station on a cocktail table
- Coffee and hot chocolate bar
- Fruit, pastries and black-eyed peas for good luck, Texas style
Patio Brunch
If the weather cooperates, move brunch outside under a 10x20 canopy. Afternoon sun in January can be surprisingly warm in North Texas.
Football on the Big Screen
New Year's Day bowl games are a tradition. Set up a projector and screen for guests who want to watch.
Seating
Plan one chair per guest. Brunch guests like to sit and linger.
